WHERE
ANDALUSIA MEETS THE SEA, THE BRIGHT COASTAL STRIP KNOWN
AS THE COSTA DEL SOL
SPREADS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. THE 150 KILOMETRES OF BEACHES
AND INLETS ARE WARMED BY THE ANDALUSIAN SUN AND COOLED BY
THE GENTLE BREEZE FROM THE MEDITERRANEAN. THIS IS THE SEA
CLOSE TO WHERE PICASSO WAS BORN. SUN AND CULTURE ARE A UNIQUE
OFFER. THE MOST VARIED GASTRONOMY, THE MOST VALUABLE MONUMENTS,
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL NATURAL LOCATIONS... THE COSTA DEL SOL
IS THE MOST COMPLETE TOURIST CENTRE FOR SOUTHERN EUROPE.
Picasso.
Málaga
has recovered Picasso, its prodigal son. The genius returned
to his home, transformed by a great museum. Thus, the cultural
attraction of the Costa del Sol
has grown spectacularly. However, Picasso in not on his
own. He is accompanied by the sublime Cathedral,
the beautiful Alcazaba,
the gallant Gibralfaro Castle, Málaga's wonderful
historical centre, the impressive Roman Theatre... All of
these are very near to each other because Ronda and Antequera
are awaiting for us only a few kilometres away, with their
majestic artistic and monumental collection of historic
buildings. An endless lis of theasures waiting to be discovered.
Sun and beach.
Thanks to the legenth of it coast, Málaga province
can provide a huge variety of beaches. Extensive and with
fine sand, wild and rocky, small coves far away from the
urban noise or tourist beaches complemented with all kinds
of services.
However, if you prefer to sail, there are 11 marinas on
the Costa del Sol, from where small cruises depart and navigate
along all the coastal
strip, in some cases stopping at interesting places.
The Golf
Coast.
The Costa del Sol is the largest golf centre in continental
Europe. With moor than 50 courses, some of them designed
by master such as David Thomas, Robert Trent Jones and Severiano
Ballesteros, this region on the planet is a dream for any
golfer. Its excellent infrastructures, its privileged climate,
its complete services... Everything is prepared to offer
the player with everything that he or she needs. The Ryder
Cup and the World Championship proved to the world, the
excellence of the Costa del Golf.
Rural Tourism.
The inland villages of Málaga province preserve a
legacy of incalculable value which is formed by the white
towns, inlaid into the mountains or settled in the valleys
with direct contact with nature. Its route implies a gastronomical,
cultural, artistic, monumental journey... And it is not
only this but also meeting unexpectedly such beautiful and
also such diverse fauna.
La Axarquia is one of the most unequalled regions. Its past,
its present and its future are fascinating. The monumental
Vélez Málaga, the tropical Nerja, The Serranía
de Ronda (Ronda Mountain range) has a vast territory of
unique nature that terminates in the majestic and proud
Ronda, with its countless artistic theasures. Another region
that with a brushstroke paints green the Costa del Sol is
the Guadalhorce Valley, which takes its name from the main
river that irrigates the centre of Málaga. Moving
away from the coast, we discover one of the most fascinating
territories of the Costa del Sol: Antequera district. El
Torcal will let our imagination run wild while Laguna de
Fuente de Piedra reserves for us the largest colony of pink
flamingos in southern Europe.
Gastronomy.
The cuisine here has unlimited variety unlike any other
area in Spain. The high quality gastronomy has establishments
of renowned prestige where the "creative" style
and the traditional Mediterranean diet combine, by using
native products and reviving ancestral recipes. The so called
"tapas tour" is one of its most suggestive manifestations.
A delicious journey around pubs and bars that mark out the
historical centres of the cities. Then, we find the invisible
inland-coast separation: formed by the "pescaito"
(fish), the "chiringuitos" (beach restautants)
at the beach, the most ancestral dishes from the rural towns,
from the freshest seafood from the Andalusian coast to the
juiciest meat from suthern Spain, not forgetting the delicious
cured Iberian ham in the Andalusian mountains.
Health
and beauty.
To feel good, both inside and outside, is simple in the
Costa del Sol. Thanks, not only to the natural conditions
of its surroundings but also to the centres that exist and
are aimed at facilitating holistic services of health and
beauty. Personalised treatments where the most innovative
techniques are applied such as the thalassotherapy or hydrotherapy,
or more ancestral cures such as oriental medicine, Tai Chi
and Chi Kung. Also, why not, enjoy the spas, used for centuries
for their unquestionable healing effects.
Congresses
and Incentives.
The new impressive Fair Palace of Málaga, the Congress
Palace of the Costa del Sol, the Auditorium of Torremolinos,
the Peace Palace of Fuengirola, the Auditorium of Benalmádena,
the Fair and Congress Palace of Marbella and the Exhibition
Palace of Estepona, are the flagships of the offer of congresses.
However, we cannot forget that the hotels have their own
convention centres. The incentive journey also has its perfect
venue in the Costa del Sol. The offer of leisure, sun, culture
and gastronomy are unequalled. The most important aspect
is the availability to the customer for twelve months of
the year.
Active Tourism.
The Costa del Sol is a paradise for sports. its natural
patrimony (sea, mountains, rivers, valleys...) next
to the modern facilities built in recent years, offer the
sportsperson the perfect place to exercise their body. We
are speaking of centres of high performance for football,
basketball, tennis, paddle, horseriding, sitting on 4x4
or on a´quad or on foot, discovering paths and exploring
our inland nature.
Festivities.
The Costa del Sol gives out happiness through each one of
its pores. This is felt in its fairs and festivities. The
capital of Málaga as well as each one of the towns
that form its province have unique acts full of charm and
entertainment. Holy Week, the religious pilgrimages, the
local holidays, the processions, the most ancestral liturgies,
the folk dances and singing, the culinary gatherings...
The calendar of holidays in the province of Málaga
lasts 365 days of the year.
Leisure.
